Courts of minimal jurisdiction are courts that deal with only specific different types of court cases. They are typically located in/near any county courthouse and are also usually presided by a single judge. A judge sitting and not using a jury hears almost all of the cases heard by just these courts. Some examples connected with trial courts for limited jurisdiction include:

Small claims court: This court in most cases handles disagreements regarding private individuals from a relatively low amount, for instance, less than several thousand dollars.

Municipal court: This court usually handles cases regarding offenses against area ordinances.

Probate court: This court takes care of matters concerning applying the estate of a person who has deceased. It sees that this provisions of some sort of will are executed or sees that the property is distributed in line with state law in the event he/she died intestate (without having a will).

Family : This court deals with matters concerning child care, annulments, divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, etc.

Traffic court: This court usually handles minor violations of traffic legislation.

Juvenile court: This court commonly handles cases including delinquent children under a certain age, for example, 18 or 21 years of age.

Many states contain a county court, which may always be purely administrative (along the lines of ) or could possibly have jurisdiction over criminal cases including felonies (like in your state) In states with a administrative court, the board acts like the primary agency to the local government. In the states that contain a judicial court, such as New Jersey, it generally handles trials for felonies, along with appeals of misdemeanors from local courts and some small claims occurrences. It is typically he court of initial jurisdiction, and thus deals with mostly trials of accused felons. The Becker Region Court is founded and authorized to handle the prosecution of all infractions committed with the County.

The County Court also has limited jurisdiction on civil cases. In Texas for example the Judge handles such legal system.. Otherwise in north america, the courts connected with original jurisdiction in all of the states have jurisdiction during a particular county, parish, shire, or borough; but instead of being called "county court" they can be called "superior court" or simply "circuit court". Multiple courts involving typically limited original jurisdiction within the county are in most cases called "district courts" as well as, if located in and serving a particular municipality, "municipal courts"; and are subordinate to the county superior or circuit court.
